Hi, I’m Michael Gitter.
I’ve been designing and building water sculptures since I was very young. I started with found materials, which I glued and welded together and gave away to friends and family. I have transitioned into a more “serious” mode, and now fabricate my water art in stainless, aluminum, acrylics, stone and other materials for sale.
When I decided to pursue water sculpture full time, I applied to and was accepted into the prestigious Brooklyn Waterfront (BWAC) “COLORS” show in Red Hook with a fellow collaborator. Out of 2000 applicants, we won both Curator’s Choice and People’s Choice awards at that show. After BWAC, I was accepted into the Art Miami AQUA Hotel show. There I was offered a spot in the highly visible courtyard of the show where I featured a 9 foot tall red and blue neon water sculpture. It was a great show, with lots of exposure.
This summer, I was invited by designer Melanie Roy, to participate in the Holiday House Hamptons show house in Water Mill, in the Hamptons. It was a great show and the water sculpture Melanie and I collaborated on was a giant clear and mirrored piece. I have been invited to participate in the next Holiday House show which will take place in NYC this winter.
My work will be featured in three Lulu Labratorium Galleries in the Miami area, and I am currently working on a 15 foot tall “show-stopper” for the upcoming AQUA Art Miami show during Art Basel this December and will hopefully secure more gallery representation in for my work in the coming months.
Thank you for taking a look.
